Easy Deviled Ham Salad – Low Carb & Keto

My answer to the question What to do with all this leftover ham is this simple recipe for a deviled ham salad!  It’s creamy, spicy, salty and a little salty because of the cucumbers – that’s keto ham salad perfection!


I don’t even make ham that often, but this damn ham salad is so E.A.S.Y. and delicious that I’m going to buy more ham ASAP – just so I can turn leftovers into this incredibly delicious concoction!

Even the hungry people loved this keto salad with raw ham – in fact, while I was on the run, they cleared out the rest, and I was really sad when I got home and had no food left.

Next time I’ll hide it behind broccoli where it’s safe…. ?


But what is a ham?  If you’ve ever wondered why it’s called cured ham and not just ham salad, you’re in good company!  I googled it and found this article, which basically says that the word devils refers to the characteristic spiciness of the ham salad.

Now you know.

All I know is that it’s delicious and addictive!


Assuming you make this simple smoked ham salad (and you should), how can you enjoy it as a keto?

The crackers in the photos are nutty, because that’s all I could find here on the island, and while they are gluten-free, they aren’t that low in carbs.  But since there are delicious recipes for low-carbon crackers like this on the internet, you can certainly make some at your fingertips….

You can also enjoy this easy ham salad with pork rinds, celery sticks, on cucumber slices, in romaine lettuce leaves, wrapped in a cream cheese pancake, on a slice of low-carb toast, the list goes on!

Or you could just eat it with a fork, it’s quite possible, and I speak from experience.


Finally, you should know that I don’t use the easy word in my low-carb recipes.  This simple recipe for Devalvan ham is absolutely flawless and takes just a few minutes.

Put the ham and veggies in your food processor or Magic Bullet – pulse for about 30 seconds, add the mayonnaise and seasonings, and you’re good to go, my friends.

A delicious way to use up leftover ham. This simple ham salad will be a hit with the whole family! Low Carb, Keto, Atkins, Paleo



For the salad:

  • 2 cups chopped cooked ham
  • 1/4 cup chopped dill pickles
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 1/2 freshly chopped garlic

For upholstery:

  • 1/2 cup sugar free mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp. Sriracha (or other chili sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice


For the preparation of salads

  1. Mix salad ingredients in a food processor or Magic Bullet and pulse until you get a coarse, crumbly mixture – do not over-mix or over-stir.

To make a connection:

  1. Combine dressing ingredients in a medium bowl and whisk until smooth.
  2. Add the ham mixture to the dressing and toss until the dressing is fully incorporated into the salad.
  3. Serve them fresh on low-carb crackers, celery, romaine lettuce or any other low-carb base of your choice!
