Keto Garlic Parmesan Wings (Air Fryer)

Keto Garlic Parmesan Wings are the best “game day” or “every day” snack for guests and family. Want something traditional for the Super Bowl? Introduced in the 1950s to use pieces of chicken for which there was no demand, wings became a “staple.” They are universally loved! Combine them with a “cold one” and you have “nirvana”. Make sure it is low in carbs if you enjoy this recipe. We previously published three of our favorite recipes for fried chicken wings in our “Trifecta Chicken Wings” section – Garlic Parm, Buffalo and Ranch. But, this post takes advantage of the newest “fad” in the kitchen…. the deep fryer!


Classic wings are first fried in hot oil. This cooks the chicken and browns the skin. Backstage restaurants then mix the hot backstage with a number of pre-cooked sauces for flavor. The number of sauces is almost unlimited. One problem, even with the best wing connections, is inconsistency. Not to mention what we call the Goldilocks effect. Some will say the crunchier the better, others will say the skin is softer, and still others will say, “That’s right! The deep fryer will eliminate this problem. Not to mention it will eliminate the need for a vat of hot oil and splatters.


Joanie likes to use fresh chicken wings that have already been cut into pieces. They are usually very easy to find. You can also buy large packages of frozen wings. Then you can get the wings when you want them. She likes to thaw them before she fries them in the open. However, you can use your deep fryer with the frozen wings. Either way, if you use a hot air fryer, your wings will be juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The internal temperature should be 165 degrees Fahrenheit while cooking.

Joanie’s recipe for Garlic Parmesan Sauce is simple and delicious. You need to mix it just when the wings are ready to cook. The combination of freshly grated Parmesan cheese (from a can or jar), butter, chopped garlic and chopped parsley is all you need. Joanie adds red pepper flakes for an extra kick, but those are optional. She also likes to rub the wings with a little garlic powder and olive oil before cooking. The sauce is also delicious with chicken tenders, chicken fillets or chicken thighs.

Preparation Tips

A double benefit of the air fryer is that there are no grease splatters and each batch is regular. You can even open the fryer halfway through to check and flip the wings (great idea). Different air fryers have different times, so try until you find the right time and temperature for the crispiness you want. The best advice you can give is to make sure the wings are on the same layer in the basket of the fryer. Try not to touch the other wings. Make separate batches if you have a large quantity.

Allow the wings to air dry before frying and lightly brush the frying basket with olive oil before frying. This will help prevent collisions. For another flavor variation, add 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika to the wing coating to give your wings a unique smoky flavor (before cooking). Wings will be smaller when air-fried, but we still recommend giving them some room in the basket.

The Keto Garlic Parmesan Wings (fryer) is the perfect snack for “game day” or every day. Less than 1 gram of carbs and so delicious. Make a few servings tonight and enjoy! Baked perfectly every time in the fryer, no splatters, and so crispy yet juicy!

Garlic Parmesan Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 3 cloves of garlic (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 1 tablespoon parsley (chopped)

  • Fryer to preheat air to 380 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Dry the chicken wings and place them in a medium bowl. Season with sea salt, pepper, garlic powder and olive oil. Stir to coat evenly.
  • Place a layer of wings in the fryer and fry for 15 minutes. Flip the wings and fry for another 15 minutes.

Garlic Parmesan Sauce

  • When the wings are done, melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl, then add the chopped garlic and chili flakes. Add a quarter of the Parmesan cheese to taste. Stir to combine.
  • Place the hot wings in a medium bowl. Pour the butter mixture over the wings. Arrange on a plate and garnish with the remaining grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Serve hot.
  1. If using frozen wings, set the fryer at 350 degrees for 7 minutes, then increase the temperature to 390 degrees for 25 minutes.

  3. Serve warm, immediately after adding the dressing, is a great way to serve celery, carrots and ranch dressing.
